“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to success is more important than any other one thing.” -Abraham Lincoln

Have you been wondering what progress has been made at El Morro Valley Cooperative? Well, the short answer is “lots!” We have been working closely with architects, food specialists, contractors, and other professionals to navigate New Mexico’s changing building codes and food safety laws…and our stubborn dedication to our Cooperative is paying off!

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has continued to support this endeavor – thank you for the donations of equipment, firewood, and hugs as we stubbornly overcome obstacles in our path. Seeing your faces on Friday work days (10 a.m. to 2pm) means so much!

We would also like to thank Barbara Felix and Rachel Prinz, our architect team at Barbara Felix Architecture + Design, who have been navigating changing NM Building code and negotiating with the CID on our behalf – and doing so pro-bono, because they believe in what we are doing.  Many thanks also to Food Specialist Hiromi Martinez, who is helping us work out the best approach to our kitchen, given the recent expansion of NM food safety regulations.

Thanks also to Elizabeth Guess and Casey Kellog for providing potential alternatives to our certified kitchen. A thousand thanks to Margaret Merrill, for supporting Cooperative grant endeavors. And a big shout-out to Jaye Wilkinson for sharing her expertise, and for exploring ways for the Co-op to support local businesses.

All of the love and support has been both humbling and empowering! A thousand thanks to you all! We would love to share with you face-to-face at our Annual Meeting on Saturday, January 28th at 2pm. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, get a tour, vote for Board Members, and get a feel for how the Co-op will be able to support your own food-based business!
